A police check at a premises in Limassol has resulted in four arrests after officers found three people working as private security guards without the required licences, while a fourth person was allegedly breaching the conditions of her existing licence.
The operation took place at around 11am on Sunday, following information received by police concerning the employment of people as private security guards without the necessary authorisation.
Officers first approached a 62-year-old woman stationed at the entrance of the premises, where she was operating an electric gate. Police established that she was employed by a private security services company and held a valid private security guard licence.
Further checks, however, found that the security of the premises had been assigned to a different private security company. The woman was subsequently arrested for an offence involving a breach of the conditions of her licence.
Police also found two women, aged 30 and 31, and a 75-year-old man carrying out security duties without holding the required licences. All three were arrested at the scene.
The four detainees were taken to Agios Ioannis Police Station in Limassol, where they were charged in writing and released pending a court summons.
The owner of the security company involved was also summoned to the police station and questioned in writing.
The Agios Ioannis Police Station is continuing its investigation.
