Monday is back, and Cyprus has decided that sunshine alone would be far too straightforward.
After a relatively calm weekend, the weather is bringing back the clouds, showers and possible thunderstorms, while temperatures are finally looking a little more autumnal. In other words, the island is slowly getting with the September program.
Clouds, showers and a Monday with swagger
Today, locally increased cloud cover will develop at times, bringing isolated showers or a thunderstorm. Things will start off in the west before the showers become more likely in the mountains, inland areas and the southeast later on.
So if you had plans for a perfectly predictable Monday, perhaps keep an eye on the sky.
Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, briefly reaching 6 Beaufort along windward coasts during the afternoon.
The sea will be slightly rough to rough.
And then there are the temperatures, which have finally decided to calm down a little. We’re looking at around 28°C inland and along the southern and eastern coasts, 26°C along the remaining coasts and 18°C in the highest mountains.
Honestly, 18°C in the mountains sounds almost suspiciously autumnal.
Tonight, things settle down
The weather will become mainly clear, although increased cloud will develop at times in the west.
Winds will ease to light to moderate, while the sea will be up to slightly rough.
Temperatures will fall to around 18°C inland, 20°C along the coasts and a rather crisp 11°C in the highest mountains.
So if you're heading into the mountains tonight, you may want to remember that Cyprus does, in fact, own jackets.
And the week isn't completely done with the weather antics
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring locally increased afternoon cloud, with isolated showers or a thunderstorm possible.
Then on Thursday, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, keeping the slightly unsettled mood going.
As for temperatures, they will gradually drop a little further, settling slightly below the average for this time of year.
And there we have it. Monday is cooler, cloudier and a little moodier, while the mountains are already getting temperatures that could almost make you reach for a sweater.
Summer isn't exactly storming out of the door, but Cyprus is definitely starting to close the windows behind it.
