A weak low-pressure system is hanging around, but for now, the island is keeping things mostly sunny before a wetter spell arrives from Sunday.
Sunny Friday with a warm afternoon
Today will be mainly clear, with winds starting off variable and light at 3 Beaufort before gradually turning southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Along the southern coast, winds may briefly become stronger, reaching 5 Beaufort.
The sea will be slightly rough at times, while temperatures will climb to around 31°C inland and along the southern and eastern coasts, 29°C on the remaining coasts and 22°C in the highest mountains.
By tonight, skies will remain mainly clear, although some increased cloud will drift in from time to time. Winds will be light at 3 Beaufort, blowing from northwest to northeast, while southeastern winds are expected along the northern coast.
Temperatures will fall to around 18°C inland, 20°C on the coast and 12°C in the highest mountains.
The weekend starts quietly
Saturday will remain mainly clear, although locally increased cloud will appear at times. So, for anyone hoping summer has finally packed its bags, Cyprus is not quite there yet.
Things become more interesting on Sunday, when periods of partly cloudy weather are expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms.
The unsettled conditions will continue into Monday, with partly cloudy skies at times and further isolated rain and thunderstorms possible.
Temperatures are expected to stay at similar levels through Monday, remaining close to the climatic averages for this time of year.
