After enduring a relentless push past 44°C over the past couple of days, seeing the interior forecast drop back to 39°C genuinely feels like a breather. The intense hot air mass that locked over the island is officially starting to weaken today, opening the door to a much more manageable finish to the workweek.
The day will stay mostly sunny for the majority of districts, though the western half of the island can expect some local cloud build-up around midday and into the afternoon.
The heat distribution across the island is taking a welcome step down across the board. Inland areas will top out at a temperature of 39°C; still warm, but a noticeable relief compared to yesterday's peak. The southwest and west coasts enjoy the crispest conditions on the island at a fresh 32°C, while the remaining coastal strips settle in at 34°C. Up in the higher Troodos range, temperatures dip back under the 30-degree line to a pleasant 29°C.
Keep an eye out for a livelier atmosphere along the coast today. Winds will start off from the southeast to southwest at a light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort before swinging southwesterly to northwesterly. By early afternoon, windward coasts will see speeds pick up to 5 Beaufort, with the southeastern coast briefly catching stronger gusts up to 6 Beaufort. Seas will build as well, turning generally a little rough across most areas and rough along western shores by the afternoon.
The atmosphere remains somewhat divided as we head into the overnight hours. The western half of the island will see periods of increased cloud cover, while the eastern districts stay mostly clear before patches of low cloud, mist, or fog form late in the night. Winds will gradually calm down to a light 3 Beaufort flow. Marine conditions will vary noticeably depending on your location: expect slight waters in the south and east, a little rough in the north, and lingering rough seas in the west.

The long-promised weekend cool-down is arriving right on schedule.
Saturday: Temperatures drop further, especially inland and up in the mountains, bringing values slightly below seasonal averages. Once morning mist clears, expect mostly sunny skies, though afternoon clouds could bring isolated showers over the Troodos peaks and eastern coastal spots.
Sunday: Conditions hold steady with similar temperatures and mostly sunny skies, though afternoon mountain clouds will again carry a minor chance of a brief, isolated shower.
Monday: The brief dip comes to an end as temperatures bounce back up, returning values right in line with normal seasonal averages under sunny skies.
