Friday has arrived wearing a windswept little jacket and carrying a few mischievous clouds across the island. A weak low-pressure system continues to hover nearby, stirring up breezes and the occasional passing shower as Cyprus eases into the weekend.
Today’s skies will drift between sunshine and patches of cloud, while isolated afternoon showers may pop up over the mountains, and perhaps even wander into southeastern areas for a quick hello. Winds will be feeling especially energetic, sweeping in from the southwest to northwest at moderate to strong levels, and occasionally becoming quite blustery in southern coastal spots. The sea, meanwhile, may trade its usual calm mood for a slightly moodier, choppier afternoon along exposed coasts.
Temperatures will stay pleasantly spring-like, climbing to around 27°C inland and along the southern and eastern shores, about 23°C on the rest of the coastline, and a crisp 17°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight brings calmer skies and a quieter atmosphere, though a few patches of low cloud may gather here and there like sleepy blankets over parts of the island. Winds will gradually settle down, while the sea returns to a gentler mood.
Saturday will keep a playful mix of sunshine and cloud around, with a small chance of isolated mountain showers once again making a cameo appearance.
By Sunday and Monday, Cyprus slips back into a more classic Mediterranean scene with mostly clear skies, warm sunshine and temperatures hovering comfortably near seasonal averages, though a touch of dust will continue floating lazily through the atmosphere.
