A 36-year-old groom and his 28-year-old best man have been remanded in custody for two days following a dangerous drifting stunt at a roundabout in Limassol during a wedding celebration.
The Limassol District Court ordered their detention after both men were arrested in connection with the incident at the Linopetra roundabout. The younger suspect is alleged to have been driving the racing car, while the older man is the groom.
During questioning, both reportedly admitted that their actions had been reckless, saying they only understood the seriousness of the incident afterwards.
Police are continuing to search for the vehicle used in the stunt. Although officers have taken possession of a car as part of their investigation, they believe it is not the one seen in the footage.
Investigators are also trying to identify the drivers of the flatbed trucks used to block the roundabout's entrances and exits. The vehicles were positioned to prevent other motorists from entering the area while the drifting took place.
The incident attracted significant attention after a video captioned "Just Married" circulated on social media. The footage showed a racing car repeatedly skidding around the roundabout as fireworks were set off and a man danced in the middle of the road.
The manoeuvres took place on a public road, creating a potential danger for other motorists and road users.
Police are examining the available evidence and have not ruled out further arrests as their investigation continues.
