Health Ministry announces two deaths, 121 cases

The Health Ministry on Wednesday announced two coronavirus fatalities and 121 new cases, raising the death toll to 227 and total cases detected so far to 32,828.

The fatalities involved two men, aged 79 and 80, both of whom suffered from underlying health conditions.

The new cases emerged after 25,414 tests were conducted. Of the 113 new cases, 66 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test.

The remaining 34 were contacts, 15 were people who took the initiative to get tested, four were people who got tested at general hospitals, one was tested either upon the referral of their GP or as part of special health groups, while one more was a resident of a migrant camp.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 81 coronavirus patients, 21 of which are in critical condition.

22 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, two of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 24 patients, 15 of which are in the ICU. 35 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where three are in the ICU.
