The health ministry announced two coronavirus fatalities and 410 new cases on Friday, raising the death toll to 87 and total cases to 17,057.
The two coronavirus fatalities involved a 61-year-old man with a burdened medical history and a man aged 89, who also suffered from underlying health conditions.
So far, 57 men (65%) and 30 women (35%) of an average age of 79 have died as a result of their coronavirus infection.
A total of 12,042 tests were conducted on Friday, of which 4,132 were PCR tests and 7,910 were rapid tests.
Among the 410 new cases detected through PCR tests, 113 were people whose infection was confirmed after testing positive to a rapid test.
Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 115 patients, 25 of which are in critical condition.
59 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, six of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 28 patients, 13 of which are in the ICU where 12 are intubated. 26 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital, while two more are at the Makario hospital in Nicosia.
The remaining 144 were contacts, two were arrivals to a Cyprus airport, 130 were people who took the initiative to get tested, 19 were people who got tested at general hospitals, one was a person tested either as part of special health groups or upon the referral of their GP, while one was detected as part of the program testing the Cyprus basketball and volleyball federations.
