Rob Reiner, the iconic American director and actor whose career gave the world classics like When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, and This Is Spinal Tap, was found dead along with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their Los Angeles home on Sunday in what police are calling an apparent homicide, authorities said.
The couple, aged 78 and 68, were discovered in their Brentwood residence by emergency responders shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time. Both appeared to have suffered fatal stabbing injuries, and investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division are leading the probe. Authorities have not confirmed a suspect, and no arrests had been announced early Monday.
Reiner’s family released a statement expressing profound sorrow and asking for privacy during an “unbelievably difficult time.”
