A 70-year-old man was found dead by his own son in Paphos district, where the senior citizen had gone hunting on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the hunter left his Limassol residence on Wednesday morning to go hunting but the family failed to establish contact with him after many hours had gone by.

The hunter’s wife notified their son who rushed to Salamiou area where he discovered the body of his father around 7pm. He then called for an ambulance and notified police.

The man was taken to Limassol General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.

There were mixed reports regarding possible injuries, with Kathimerini Cyprus saying no injuries were reported. But according to ReporterCy, a head injury was visible on the body. Officials said preliminary findings suggested the man might have fallen to the ground and struck his head.

An autopsy is expected to show the exact cause of death.

Last week, another man was found dead in rural Nicosia, with preliminary findings pointing to health issues as a possible cause.
