A quiet Sunday afternoon in Pegeia turned into a scene of horror when a 46-year-old woman called the police, saying her husband was threatening to kill her. Within moments, the situation escalated, leaving the woman critically injured and her 57-year-old husband under arrest for attempted murder.
The dramatic incident unfolded at 5:40 p.m., according to police reports. The woman’s frantic call led officers to the couple’s home, where they found a man standing outside the yard holding a hunting rifle. Shockingly, he allegedly confessed on the spot, admitting to shooting his wife.
Inside the property, officers discovered the woman lying on the ground, severely injured with gunshot wounds to her head and body. She was rushed to Paphos General Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery before transferring her to Nicosia General Hospital. She remains in critical but stable condition, according to attending doctors.
Police immediately arrested the husband, issuing a warrant on the spot. The Paphos Crime Detection Department is now investigating the case, with members of the Criminal Investigation Service combing through the scene for evidence.
As authorities work to piece together what led to this violent incident, the case has left the Pegeia community stunned. More details are expected as investigations continue.
