The community leader of Ineia, Yagos Tsivikos, strongly denies reports suggesting the conversion of traditional sheds into summer villas in Akamas. In an open letter, he dismisses these claims as deliberate misinformation, asserting that there are already numerous sheds in Ineia.
Tsivikos revealed that two years ago, at the community's request, an official from the Planning Department visited and partially documented over 120 sheds. However, the comprehensive completion of this effort is still pending.
Furthermore, he referenced a 2022 decree by the Minister of Interior, which permits the construction of agricultural sheds up to 30 square meters without the need for planning or building permits. These sheds have historically been used not only for livestock but also as shelters for people. Tsivikos emphasized the importance of preserving this tradition and heritage, declaring that it will not be allowed to be lost, as it represents the hard work and dedication of their ancestors.
