Inoculations of children aged 5-11 reached 8.9% in Cyprus, Christina Yiannaki, the Health Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, said on Saturday after visiting a vaccination center in Nicosia. The Ministry, in cooperation with the Paediatric Society of Cyprus, is operating walk-in vaccination centers dedicated exclusively to children’s inoculations on specific dates only.

As of Saturday, around 300 children had received the jab in Nicosia, said Yiannaki, adding that a similar center for children 5-11 will begin operations next Saturday in Limassol. Total inoculations of children for this particular age group are estimated at around 7,000, the Cyprus Pediatric Society Chairman, Michalis Anastasiades said.

Inoculations among children aged 16-17 are at 56% and among 12-15 year-olds 46%, Yiannaki added.
