The “Onisilos-Gedeon 2020" military exercise between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel wrapped up successfully on Thursday, a defence ministry statement said.
The exercise, which took on Cyprus land in the framework of the annual military cooperation program between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel, launched on November 17.
“Onisilos-Gedeon 2020" focused on the training of staff on tactics and procedures of air forces deployment, reinforcing militant capacity during air and air defence operations, and to allow the Cyprus National Guard to gain experience in cooperating with the Israeli Air Force.
The exercise was directed and coordinated by the National Guard General Staff Air Force Command in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force.
It took place within the Nicosia FIR and covered a big area of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. Land and air forces of the National Guard and aircraft of the Israeli Air Force took part.
The Cyprus defence ministry hailed the exercise as the culmination of the steadfast and upgraded cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel’s armed forces.
