Cypriot swimmer Karolina Pelendritou claimed silver in the women’s 50-meter freestyle S11 final at the World Para Swimming Championships on Sunday.
The Paralympic champion touched the wall in 30.30 seconds, marking her fastest time of the year after clocking 30.63 in Berlin last June. She had posted 30.84 in the morning heats, according to a team statement.
Russia’s Daria Lukyanenko captured gold with a time of 30.22, while the Netherlands’ Lizette Bruinsma earned bronze in 30.34.
The medal adds to Pelendritou’s growing World Championship tally in the 50-meter freestyle: she previously won gold in 2022 and bronze in 2023.
Pelendritou is set to swim in the 100-meter breaststroke final on Tuesday.
