An armed robbery is under investigation after an elderly couple were confronted inside their home in a rural area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m., when an unknown man knocked on the door of a prefabricated residence. After the occupants opened the door, the suspect forced his way inside, threatening them with a knife. He then took an undisclosed amount of cash along with two mobile phones before fleeing the scene.
The victims, aged 73 and 66, were not physically harmed. As a precaution, they were taken to Larnaca General Hospital for medical checks and were later released.
Authorities later located the stolen mobile phones in the vicinity of the house.
The Aradippou Police Station is continuing inquiries into the case, which is being treated as an armed robbery.
