The Larnaca District Local Government Organisation has completed the rollout of dedicated breastfeeding facilities in line with Cyprus' new legislation protecting and promoting breastfeeding, which came into effect on 25 June 2026.
The organisation confirmed it has adopted internal procedures governing the use of the spaces and has briefed employees on how the facilities operate, including the responsibilities of the departments involved.
Every EOA Larnaca building now includes a designated area that can be arranged for breastfeeding when needed. A permanent breastfeeding room has also been established at the organisation's Central Administration Building, providing a private space for both staff members and mothers visiting for public services.
According to the organisation, the rooms have been designed to meet standards for hygiene, privacy and safety. They are intended to provide a comfortable environment for breastfeeding, as well as expressing and storing breast milk.
EOA Larnaca said the initiative ensures full compliance with the Promotion and Protection of Breastfeeding (Amendment) Law of 2025. It added that the project reflects its commitment to supporting working mothers, protecting their rights and offering family-friendly public services.
The organisation said it will continue introducing workplace policies that create a safe and supportive environment for employees while improving the experience of citizens using its services.
