Larnaca intensifies mosquito spraying for public health

Residents urged: Prevent mosquito breeding in Larnaca

Newsroom

Larnaca Municipality has informed residents that systematic spraying operations to combat mosquitoes are ongoing throughout the city.

In a statement, the municipality reported that "inspections and spraying are being conducted by the Health Services personnel and crews of the Municipality, aiming to reduce the mosquito population to safeguard public health and minimize inconvenience to residents and visitors."

Special attention has been given to areas around the Airport, Kamares, Vergina, and the Refineries where stagnant water remains a concern.

Last week, grids of rainwater drains, open channels, inactive pools, and other areas with stagnant water within the city were sprayed. As of Tuesday, July 2, 2024, two motorized crews of the Municipality's Service continue spraying operations in the rainwater channels of Livadia and Voroklini municipal districts.

Furthermore, a team from the Ministry of Health's Health Services is conducting a door-to-door campaign within the city to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito and educate the public.

The Larnaca Municipality urges residents to ensure that any water collected by objects or in spaces within their homes/premises is emptied to prevent mosquito breeding.

For any information or complaints, residents may contact the Larnaca Municipality Complaints Office at 24816530 or the Health Services at 24816557/559.
