Limassol cop caught running red light

Viral video sparks outrage as citizens accuse police of double standards on road safety.

Newsroom

A video making the rounds on social media has caused a stir after it showed a police officer from the Limassol “Z” team riding his motorcycle through a red light while other cars had the right of way.

The clip, apparently filmed by a driver waiting at the light, shows the officer entering the busy boulevard despite oncoming traffic from the right.

The anonymous user who posted the video even tagged the official Cyprus Police account, accusing officers of “reckless illegalities” and double standards. “Limassol Police. Non-existent patrols, non-existent policing… but for the citizen, cameras, vans, lines, 300-euro fines, etc.,” the post read.

The footage has sparked frustration among users online, many of whom argued that the behavior undermines public trust in law enforcement.

The police have not yet issued an official comment on the incident.
