A 42-year-old woman was found dead in her bed at her home in Limassol's Omonia area after a neighbour reported a strong smell coming from the property.

Police were called to the upstairs residence on Sunday afternoon after the neighbour became concerned by the odour. Officers entered the home and discovered the Greek Cypriot woman’s body.

The condition of the body suggests she may have been dead for several days before she was found.

Police are investigating the case as an unnatural death. The circumstances and exact cause of death have not yet been established.

A postmortem examination is scheduled for Monday, October 12, and will be carried out by forensic pathologist Angeliki Papetta to help determine the cause of death.

Police investigations are continuing.
