Low visibility and detours for highway traffic

Drivers warned of low visibility, rainwater accumulation near the Larnaca west interchange

Police issued a traffic alert on Friday morning, warning drivers of low visibility on the highway near the Limassol-Nicosia-Larnaca interchange.

According to the statement, heavy rainfall is causing very low visibility conditions on the A1 highway near Skarinou and Kakoradjia.

“Visibility is very limited and there is a lot of accumulated water on the road surface, rendering the highway extremely slippery and dangerous,” police said.

Drivers are warned to be extra careful and drive at slow speeds, keep safe distances from other vehicles, and keep their daytime lights running.

Road closures and detours

Reports also said there were road detours in other areas, including on the Paphos-Limassol highway due to mudslides.

Drivers may have to take a detour by getting off the highway at Pissouri and Avdimou exits to merge with east-bound traffic on the old Paphos-Limassol road.
