A 47-year-old man was arrested on Friday after allegedly attacking police officers during a routine patrol in a village in the Nicosia district.
According to authorities, the incident occurred shortly before midnight when members of the Mobile Unit (O.P.E.) of the Morphou Police Directorate were conducting a motorized patrol. While the officers were on duty, the suspect, who was in his yard, threw a glass bottle at the police vehicle, causing it to be hit.
The officers promptly detained the man for an in flagrante offense. He is expected to face formal charges for assault and malicious damage later today and will be released pending further legal proceedings.
The Kakopetria Police Station continues to investigate the incident.
