A senior citizen was found dead Wednesday morning inside a shed in a field in Paphos, hours after his family filed a missing person report.

According to police, the 68-year-old man left his home in Lasa, Paphos district on Tuesday but did not return promptly, causing his family to worry about his wellbeing and contacting authorities.

Relatives of the missing man went to his field on Wednesday early morning, around 7am, where they reportedly discovered his body inside a farm shed on the property.

Police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. Media reports said the man was facing multiple health issues, while a preliminary investigation appeared to be ruling out foul play.

The exact cause of death will be determined by a post mortem scheduled for Wednesday by state forensic pathologist Eleni Antoniou.
