A 42-year-old man was taken into custody yesterday in connection with a significant drug seizure by the Anti-Drug Squad (YKAN). Authorities recovered around one kilogram of cocaine and close to nine kilograms of cannabis during a targeted operation aimed at dismantling local drug trafficking networks.

According to YKAN, the man was first observed in a rural area of Larnaca moving a container from his field to a vehicle before heading to a nearby area overgrown with vegetation, where he transferred the container again. He was stopped by officers as he left the scene, at which point a search revealed 2 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of cannabis, a 20-centimeter machete, and €4,060 in cash.

Following his arrest, YKAN conducted further searches at the two locations where the containers had been handled. These searches uncovered three containers holding approximately 920 grams of cocaine, 8.83 kilograms of cannabis, and 35 grams of cannabis resin.

The suspect was taken into custody for investigation on charges including drug possession, possession with intent to supply, and money laundering linked to illegal activities. The Larnaca District Unit of the Anti-Drug Squad is continuing the investigation.
