Man rescued after falling in septic tank

Fire fighters pull man to safety after he falls into ditch filled with liquid waste

Newsroom

Fire fighters mounted a rescue operation on Tuesday to pull a man out of a septic tank filled with liquid waste.

According to the Fire Department, a man had fallen into a septic tank some 12 metres deep on Tuesday in Kato Deftera village, rural Nicosia. It was not clear how many hours he had been stuck.

Due to the presence of liquid waste in the ditch, that was being used as a septic tank, emergency responders had to make use of an Arizona vortex to pull the man to safety.

No information was provided over the cause of the incident while a video posted on Facebook by the Fire Department showed the moment the man was rescued.

The man was transported to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital.
