A senior citizen succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, one month after he was struck on the highway as he was standing near his pickup truck.
Local media on Wednesday reported 67-year-old Christos Georgiou from Nicosia died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Nicosia General Hospital on Tuesday around noon.
Georgiou had been admitted to ICU in “extremely critical condition” on October 8 following a highway accident and underwent emergency surgery.
Details of the accident indicated that Georgiou had stopped his pickup truck on the roundabout outside the GSP Stadium and was standing right behind his vehicle when a north-bound car driven by a 20-year-old male driver slammed into the pedestrian.
