Husband allegedly throws acid at his wife after the separated couple got into an argument

Police in Limassol have detained a local man who allegedly threw acid at his wife after the separated couple got into a heated argument.

Local media reported that a 57-year-old Greek Cypriot male suspect was detained for questioning in connection with an acid attack in Zakaki, Limassol district.

Reports said a woman, described as a 40-year-old Romanian national, was rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital on Wednesday after suffering serious burns all over her body.

Police told Knews it was too early to make statements and declined to confirm or deny whether an arrest warrant had been issued.

The husband was said to have visited the residence of a mutual friend of his and his wife, where they got into a heated argument.

During the heated exchange, it was reported that the husband threw acid at his wife, causing her severe burns.

Police are investigating the incident.
