British couple critically injured in Ayia Varvara accident, Bulgarian driver wanted for questioning

Paphos police are looking for a male driver in connection with a weekend hit and run that left a British couple critically injured.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, a man from Bulgaria was driving in the Ayia Varvara area in Paphos district on Saturday when his car slammed into a bus in front of him.

His vehicle then crossed into the opposite lane, cutting off a British couple on a high torque motorcycle according to CNA which cited a traffic police investigation.

Both the man and the woman on the motorcycle, described as permanent residents of Cyprus, were critically injured and were rushed to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital.

CNA did not specify the time of the incident but reported that the car driver got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, adding that he was wanted by police.

Police did not issue any statement regarding the incident.
