A man was arrested Tuesday night following a police search in Paphos that ended up with the suspect biting the officer’s hand and getting arrested.

According to local reports, police received a tip about a man who was moving about and acting suspiciously at a car park near the Paphos District Court.

When cops approached the suspect, they spotted a 26-year-old man who was known to police for other cases in connection with burglary and theft, police said.

But when officers attempted to search him, he refused a pad down and became upset according to police, who also said the man was causing a public disturbance.

At one point, the suspect attacked the officers biting one of them on the hand, police said. They also found a knife on him and placed hin into custody for resisting arrest, causing bodily harm, and knife possession.

He was later charged and released on bail.
