Cyprus's Marios Georgiou secured the silver medal in the men's parallel bars final at the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, finishing with a score of 13.800.
The Cyprus Gymnastics Federation said Georgiou produced an excellent routine, with his only error coming on the dismount when he took a small step to the side. The deduction left him 0.200 points short of the gold medal.
The result marks Georgiou's first Commonwealth Games silver medal. Before Glasgow, he had already collected two gold medals and five bronze medals across previous editions of the competition.
His success came about 90 minutes after fellow Cypriot gymnast Neophytos Kyriakou took bronze in the men's vault final.
The two gymnastics medals increased Cyprus's tally in Glasgow to four, following the country's two medals already won in athletics.
