The use of a mask to protect against the spread of COVID-19 is still mandatory in all indoor and closed areas, the Ministry of Health said Monday.

According to the Ministry, the use of masks has only been suspended for children under 12 years old, and the European recommendation for suspending the obligation to use a mask will be evaluated at a later stage in consultation with the Scientific Advisory Committee.

The use of masks is still mandatory inside both Nicosia and Paphos airports, however, the use of masks on board a particular flight will depend on the policy of each airline.

The Ministry of Health states that the use of a protective mask is still one of the best precautions against COVID-19 transmission and requests the public to continue following the guidelines set forth by the Ministry as non-compliance will result in a 300 euro fine.
