Mazda Demio cars imported into Cyprus from non-EU countries are being recalled due to a safety concern with their passenger airbags. The recall, which affects used vehicles that were not approved for European markets, follows concerns over Takata brand airbags in the passenger seat.
Geo Pavlides Automotive, the official Mazda distributor in Cyprus, has received a notification from the manufacturer regarding the issue. The recall applies to all Mazda Demio vehicles that were active (with valid registration) or immobilized as of November 14, 2024.
Owners of affected vehicles are urged to contact Geo Pavlides Automotive to have their passenger airbags replaced. The Road Transport Department (TOM) has been informed, and a full list of affected vehicles will be available on their website for public reference.
While this recall currently focuses on the passenger airbag, information regarding other potential recalls, such as issues with the driver's side airbag, is still pending. Updates on the matter will be posted on TOM’s website as they become available.
Vehicle owners are advised to check their registration status and follow the necessary steps to ensure the safety of their vehicles.
