Monday forecast: A seaside shuffle and a hazy midweek RSVP

The clouds are playing musical chairs today, with the south and east most likely to lose a seat.

If you’re still wondering where the weekend went, you aren’t alone. Monday has arrived, and it’s brought a brief low-pressure visitor along to help us transition back to reality. The sun will have to share the sky with occasional clouds today, and if you’re located in the south or east, don't be surprised by a rogue afternoon shower. It’s the kind of day where you might need your windshield wipers for exactly thirty seconds before the sun pops back out to apologize.

Temperatures are staying on their best behavior for the start of the work week, reaching 19°C inland and along the southern and eastern edges of the island. The rest of the coast is feeling a bit more refreshed at 17°C, while the higher mountains are sitting at a brisk 10°C. The wind is doing its usual coastal laps at a moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, though it could get a bit "punchy" at 5 Beaufort if you're standing right on the shoreline. The sea is also starting the day with a bit of a temper, though it should settle into a calmer rhythm by this evening.

Tonight, the wind settles into a whisper-light 3 Beaufort, and the sea follows suit. It should be a quiet night, perfect for keeping the windows open before the air quality takes a turn.

While the next 48 hours are staying loyal to the seasonal averages, Thursday is bringing a temperature dip that suggests March still has a few wintry tricks up its sleeve.

As we look further into the week, the atmosphere is preparing a new itinerary:

Tuesday & Wednesday: The partly cloudy theme continues, but Wednesday marks the return of suspended dust. Consider it nature’s way of telling you to postpone that car wash. A few isolated raindrops might also attempt a guest appearance on Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday: The sky changes its tune. We are looking at a mostly cloudy day with local showers and the potential for isolated thunderstorms to rattle the windows.

The bottom line: You have a clear run for the next two days to get your outdoor errands done. Once the dust checks in on Wednesday and the thunder arrives on Thursday, the "indoors" option is going to look a lot more attractive.
