It’s Monday again. Alarm clocks are ringing, school bags are dragging, coffee cups are working overtime and somewhere in the distance, summer holidays are waving at us like an old friend we can almost reach.
A weak low-pressure system is lingering over the region today, while a touch of fine dust drifts lazily through the atmosphere, giving the sky a soft, hazy look.
High clouds will stretch across Cyprus through the day, filtering the sunshine just enough to make the morning feel gentler. Winds will sweep in from the southwest to northwest at a lively pace, reminding everyone holding loose papers, fashionable hairstyles or iced coffees to stay alert. The sea will also be feeling restless, turning slightly rough to rough in places.
Temperatures, however, are keeping things comfortably warm, rising to around 31°C inland, about 28°C along the southern and eastern coasts, near 26°C in northern areas, around 23°C on the western coast and a cooler 21°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the high clouds linger overhead as the island settles into a calmer evening. Breezes will ease slightly, though the sea may still hold onto a bit of its daytime moodiness.
Tuesday looks mostly clear and bright for much of the day, although thicker clouds later in the evening may bring pockets of local rain; a little reminder that spring is not quite ready to leave the stage yet.
By Wednesday and Thursday, skies are expected to grow cloudier at times, with local showers and even the possibility of isolated afternoon thunderstorms making a dramatic midweek appearance.
Temperatures will stay warm on Tuesday, hovering close to or slightly above seasonal averages, before dipping below normal levels from Wednesday onward, a brief cool-down before Cyprus continues its slow march toward long beach days, melting ice cream and summer sunsets.
