One year after the launch of Cyprus’ cross-border electronic health services, dozens of patients have already used the system both locally and across the European Union.
According to the National Electronic Health Authority, 76 European visitors received healthcare support in Cyprus through the platform, while 53 Cypriot citizens accessed medical services in other EU countries.
The authority said the initiative marks a key step in connecting healthcare systems across Europe and making medical information accessible when citizens travel or live abroad.
Since the Patient Summary service launched on June 2, 2025, a total of 18 patient summaries have been created or updated in Cyprus. During the same period, healthcare providers in Cyprus retrieved 76 patient summaries from other EU member states to assist visiting European citizens. Most of those patients came from Estonia, Greece, and Luxembourg.
Cyprus also introduced its cross-border ePrescription service on July 7, 2025. Since then, 18 electronic prescriptions issued by doctors in Cyprus have been filled at pharmacies in other EU countries.
The authority said usage has increased steadily in recent months, reflecting growing public demand for digital healthcare services that allow patients to receive treatment and access prescriptions across national borders.
Officials added that work is continuing to expand and strengthen the system, with the goal of increasing public awareness and encouraging broader participation among citizens.
