MPs approve publication of PEP bad loans list

The controversial list detailing politically exposed persons with non-performing loans, known as the Yiorkadji list, will be published Friday on parliament's website

Parliament on Thursday approved the publication of the list of politically exposed persons (PEP) with non-performing loans, known as the Yiorkadji list.

MPs approved the move with 47 to one, while EDEK did not participate in the vote. The vote comes after two years of debate over the publication of the controversial list.

On Tuesday, the ad hoc parliamentary committee looking into bank loans made to PEPs convened in the presence of parliament’s legal advisors, and agreed to publish the list through the parliament’s website as part of the minutes of parliament’s session in view of safeguarding the move from lawsuits that have already been threatened from certain MPs and others.

The list is expected to be uploaded on parliament's website on Friday.
