Newsroom

In a recent development, electricity has been successfully restored at Nicosia General Hospital after a prolonged outage that led to operational challenges.

According to Charalambos Harilaou, the spokesperson for the Cyprus Electricity Authority (Okypy), the interruption was due to a technical fault, which specialists are now addressing. Harilaou assured the public that there was no threat to the life of any patient during this incident.

Responding to inquiries about the origin of the fault, Mr. Harilaou stated that the cause is yet to be determined. Regarding the functioning of the hospital's generators, the Okypy spokesperson confirmed that both generators and UPS systems operated smoothly.

However, it's worth noting that, according to information from the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the backup generators at the hospital did not come into operation during the power outage. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
