Temperatures are dropping rapidly in Cyprus after an unusual scorching weekend, with spotty showers and thunderstorms expected in different areas throughout the week.
A low pressure system on and off is affecting the island on Tuesday, when cloudy skies are expected to bring rain initially in the north and later isolated showers and possibly thunderstorms inland and mountains.
Temperature highs will reach 32 degrees Celsius inland, 29 along the coast, while it will be 23 high up in the mountains.
Evening skies will be cloudy with chances of spotty showers in the north. Temperature lows will drop to 20 degrees inland, 21 along the coast, while it will be 13 higher up.
Mixed weather is also expected Wednesday through Friday, with morning conditions starting mostly clear with some coastal cloudy formations and gradually developing into increasing clouds with chances of showers and thunderstorms in the interior near the mountains as well as east and north of elevated areas.
Overall temperatures for the remainder of this week are expected to drop noticeably through Thursday, while a further dip on Friday will bring levels close to normal averages for this time of the year.
