More than 3,104 traffic offences were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out by members of the police across the country from 13/01/2025 to 19/01/2025.
The members of the police, in the context of traffic checks carried out throughout Cyprus, issued 1,108 complaints for exceeding the speed limit, 124 complaints for failure to wear a seatbelt by drivers and passengers, 13 complaints for not wearing a protective helmet, and 205 complaints for using a mobile phone while driving. There were also 62 complaints for driving under the influence of alcohol, 36 complaints for illegal parking, 28 for parking in disabled spaces, and 1,528 complaints for committing other traffic offences.
In addition, the traffic checks resulted in 21 complaints for drug tests, 84 car seizures, and 17 two-wheeler seizures.
Traffic controls continue on a daily basis, with the aim of preventing fatal and serious road traffic collisions, as well as instilling good road awareness among all road users.
