Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road work delays could end soon

Transport Ministry hopes to resolve issues with INTRAKAT by September

According to a report by Kathimerini's Apostolos Tomaras, the long-delayed road work on the Paphos to Polis Chrysochous route might soon resume, with the Greek company INTRAKAT appearing ready to continue the project. This optimism follows a recent meeting between Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis and INTRAKAT's Managing Director, Alexandros Exarchos.

The road construction has been halted due to several issues raised by INTRAKAT, including disputes over earthwork material specifications and changes in project schedules. The company is seeking a sum of €25 million to address these concerns, which have led to legal challenges.

During their meeting, Exarchos expressed the company’s commitment to fulfill its contractual obligations and resolve the issues. However, sources indicate that while there is a positive atmosphere, resolving these problems will require more than just goodwill.

By the end of September, the Transport Ministry aims to determine whether the differences can be resolved and an agreement reached. A key goal is to finalize a comprehensive solution for all outstanding issues, particularly the earthwork material specifications. Successfully addressing these concerns could also lead to resolving ongoing legal disputes and finalizing the project’s timeline and financial claims.
