A vehicle was completely destroyed by a fire that broke out Monday afternoon in Ayia Napa, prompting an investigation by multiple authorities. The incident occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. while the car, owned by a 40-year-old man, was parked in the designated parking area of an apartment complex.
According to police, the fire caused extensive damage to the vehicle, leaving it beyond repair. The flames were brought under control by the owner himself, with assistance from other residents in the area, before emergency services arrived. No injuries were reported.
Following the incident, examinations were carried out by the Police, the Fire Service, and the Department of Electromechanical Services to determine the cause of the blaze. Their findings showed that the fire originated from a mechanical fault, specifically a short circuit in the vehicle’s starter motor.
Authorities stressed that there were no indications of foul play, and criminal activity was ruled out. The case has been recorded as an accidental fire resulting from an electrical malfunction, bringing the investigation to a close.
