Cypriot sailing star Pavlos Kontides claimed the gold medal at the Vilamoura Grand Prix, completing four days of challenging competition with top performances.

The regatta began on November 27 under light and fading winds, with Kontides finishing 19th in the first race. By November 29, he had improved dramatically, posting scores of 1, 4, and 2 in three races and moving up to third place overall, securing his place in the Gold Fleet for the final day.

On the last day of racing, Kontides emerged victorious, earning the gold medal. Reflecting on the achievement, he wrote on social media:

“Very happy with my performance these 4 days, still things to work on which I am looking forward during the preparation season ahead. Time to recharge few days at home then continue with another camp in December.”

The Cyprus Sports Organisation (KOA) congratulated Kontides, noting that this was his second gold medal in international camps this season, following his victory in Croatia in October.

Kontides also acknowledged his fellow medalists, congratulating Lorenzo Chiavarini and Elliot Hanson.
