Cyprus marked another strong international showing by Karolina Pelendritou, who claimed a silver medal at the Para Swimming World Series in Paris.
The three-time Paralympic gold medallist finished second in the 100m breaststroke SB11 with a time of 1:23.28, in what was her first international competition of 2026. She had earlier qualified for the final with 1:23.04, improving on her performance at last year’s IDM Berlin event, where she recorded 1:24.06 in the same race.
Russia’s Daria Lukianenko took gold in Paris, while Canada’s Ali Diehl finished third.
Pelendritou also competed in the 50m freestyle S11, placing fifth with a time of 31.72 seconds, completing a solid start to the season.
In statements, the Cyprus Sports Organization congratulated the athlete on her performance, along with her coach and the KEPE high-performance programme. The result adds another achievement to Pelendritou’s long list of international distinctions and confirms her continued presence among elite competitors in para swimming.
