Authorities in Cyprus detained 21 people of various nationalities on Sunday for residing illegally in the country, police said.
The arrests were part of a broad law enforcement operation targeting third-country nationals living without legal status in the Republic of Cyprus. The sweep took place across the districts of Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos, with involvement from immigration officials and units focused on border surveillance and migration control.
Police said repatriation procedures are already underway in coordination with relevant government agencies.
Efforts to identify and deport individuals staying in the country unlawfully continue on a daily basis, according to the statement.
