Two arrested in fatal stabbing of man in Limassol

Victim found dead in apartment garage; Authorities investigate case as premeditated murder

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of 45-year-old Yiannis Argyrou, who was found dead Sunday morning in the garage of his apartment building in the Mesa Geitonia area of Limassol, police said.

Argyrou was discovered by his mother with multiple injuries, including wounds to the neck. Preliminary findings from forensic pathologists confirmed the injuries were caused by a sharp, piercing object, consistent with a criminal act.

The suspects, a 52-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, were taken into custody after police said evidence emerged linking them to what is being investigated as a premeditated murder. They are expected to appear in court Monday for a remand hearing.

Limassol CID chief Lefteris Kyriakou said the victim, who was previously known to police, was found unconscious in the family-owned garage, which was not accessible to the public. No witnesses have come forward with reports of a prior incident.

Police are continuing their investigation.
