Authorities located 21 migrants from Syria off the coast of Cape Greco early Monday and arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of smuggling them.
Marine police intercepted the boat and transported all passengers to shore in Larnaca. The migrants were later taken to the Pournara Reception and Accommodation Center for Asylum Seekers in Kokkinotrimithia.
The suspected smuggler is expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court on Tuesday for a remand hearing.
The case is under investigation by the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department.
