A police officer arrested in January on corruption-related charges is now facing legal proceedings after a case was officially registered against him last Tuesday before the District Court.

The officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, is accused of multiple offenses, including the unlawful acquisition of property, theft by a public official, abuse of power, fraud, and breach of trust. Additionally, he faces charges under the Prevention and Suppression of Money Laundering Law.

Authorities confirmed that the officer will remain on leave until the conclusion of the legal process.

The case was investigated by the Police Internal Audit Service (PIAS), which is responsible for probing misconduct within the force.
