The Municipality of Lefkara is advocating for the construction of a Technical School in Kornos, a request presented during a meeting on December 4th between Mayor Sofoklis Sofokleous and the Minister of Education, Sport, and Youth, Dr. Athina Michailidou.
In a written statement, the Mayor noted: "We are pushing for the establishment of a Technical School in the Kornos Municipal District of the Lefkara Municipality. During our meeting on Wednesday, December 4th, with Minister of Education Dr. Michailidou, we presented a thoroughly detailed and well-supported proposal with determination."
He added, "The proposal includes a topographical plan of the property allocated for the construction of the school. We highlighted the many spatial advantages of the Kornos district, which is geographically located at the center of Cyprus. Furthermore, we emphasized that the proposed area is surrounded by a green environment, ideal for fostering 'green' professions. Lastly, the school would address significant transportation challenges faced by students in this district."
In his written statement, Mr. Sofokleous expressed hope that "the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will respond to our request." He also extended his gratitude for the initial positive response from the Minister and the Ministry’s officials. Additionally, he thanked DISY MP for Larnaca, Prodromos Alabritis, and Deputy Mayor of the Kornos Municipal District, Stavros Evangelou, for their presence and support during the meeting.
