President Nicos Christodoulides is set to visit the USS Indiana, a U.S. nuclear submarine, on Tuesday afternoon. The crew was recently welcomed to Cyprus by U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, Julie Fisher, who shared the news on social media. Fisher noted that the submarine, named after the U.S. state of Indiana, carries an insignia that pays tribute to the state's rich racing history, featuring the iconic racing finish line flag. This nuclear-powered submarine is visiting Cyprus for a liberty and New Year port call, further enhancing the close relationship between the two nations.

The USS Oscar Austin, named after Medal of Honor recipient Private First Class Oscar Austin, is a tribute to his selfless service and ultimate sacrifice to save a fellow U.S. Marine. This addition of two U.S. military vessels in Limassol highlights the growing cooperation between Cyprus and the United States.
