President Nicos Anastasiades will address the Cyprus nation on Wednesday to announce a new package of measures to support the economy and workers.
A press release by the Presidency on Tuesday said Anastasiades will preside over a meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday, set to take place at 7pm at the Presidential Palace.
The President’s address will come after the meeting.
Labour Minister: €219m handed out to 180,000 workers
Labour Minister Zeta Emilianidou said Tuesday that between March 16 and May 12, the Government had distributed €219 million across 180,000 employees in an effort to cushion the blow of the economic slowdown during the coronavirus lockdown.
Emilianidou noted that the state plans to continue supporting particular businesses and employees until October 12.
She added that an additional 14,500 checks were issued on Monday to be distributed to employees.
